ArCuB is a public institution under the authority of The General Council of Bucharest. ArCuB is a unique cultural organization in Romania, being conceived as a tool between the local authority and the civil society. The cultural projects have an important socio-educative component and involve a continue dialogue with the civil society.
ArCuB
- organizes its own cultural programs of the General Council of Bucharest Municipality, from its initiative, as well as the ones ensuing from developing local, regional, national or international collaboration relation
- initiates, maintains and develops relations with public institutions, cultural associations and other non-governmental structures, to vary the local cultural offer, in order to promote and assert the cultural identity of the city Bucharest
- organizes exhibitions, performances, concerts and other cultural manifestations under own supervision or in collaboration with other public institutions and non-governmental authorities
- supports research and experimenting initiatives of new artistic expression
- promotes and supports research and experimenting initiatives of new artistic expression modalities
- encourages exploring and using unconventional spaces of cultural-artistic expression
- promotes and supports activities of study and research regarding the history and civilization of the city of Bucharest
- produces, edits and broadcasts books and magazines, audio-visual material, as well as other such cultural products
- organizes and administers cultural-artistic creation workshops
ArCuB's mission is to promote the cultural side of the city through strategies and programs (projects from the most various areas of culture: theatre, music, visual arts, dance, editorial production).
As a public institution, ArCuB has, also, as an aim, to educate the public by artistic means, as well as the effective promotion of the young artists who are not included in any traditional institutional structure. ArCuB promotes the less traditional ways of artistic expression, the contemporary works and events having as purpose the revalorization of historical sites, and the discovery of non-conventional spaces.
ArCuB's support is, mainly, financial, using the subvention given by The General Council of Bucharest, and logistic support. The Centre produces its own events, and participates as co-organizer in the most important national and international events.
